Libra - 3 Axis Stabilized Remote Head
Libra has the distinction of being the first electronically gyro stabilised remote head, available commercially. The first Libra was created over 15 years ago, and set the benchmark for gyrostabilized remote heads. The Libra head has been continually updated since then, with the latest model being the Libra 5. Previous models included the well know Libra III and Libra IV.
The Libra 5 is the latest in the evolution of Libra. It utilizes the same bulletproof construction of previous systems, but with the latest all digital aerospace quality electronics. Proven design and reliability make the Libra the best remote head for most films. The Libra is known worldwide for its robustness, and ability to "Always get the shot".
Despite its compact and lightweight design, the Libra is robust and powerful, allowing it to carry virtually any camera of any size. The Libra is capable of stabilizing small HD cameras weighing only a couple pounds, to large 65mm and Imax cameras weighing over 100 pounds. The Libra has been used with cameras from Arri, Panavision, Sony, Panasonic, and many others.
What can the Libra do for you?
The Libra remote head is a gyrostabilized camera mount. This allows it to remove all the bumps, jiggles and shakes from various shots. This has it obvious uses on Camera cars, Boats, Helicopters, Quads and wire work. But it can also save time and money on dolly shots and crane shots. The Libra can save time in the setup of crane and dolly shots, since it will eliminate any imperfections in the crane or dolly track. Many times the crane can be used without dolly track! This allows a crane to be setup faster, and is more forgiving during operation. The Libra also offer "Backpan compensation" on all cranes, which helps the camera operator during crane moves. The Libra head is also often used on the Technocrane, this allows high speed telescoping shots without the giggles normally seen on Technocrane shots.
